Keto Bulletproof Matcha Latte 🍵

With Scrumptious ‘White Chocolate’!

Kicking off the new year with this ridiculously tasty ‘white chocolate’ keto bulletproof matcha latte. Loaded with antioxidant-rich matcha and cocoa butter, this is one superfood bulletproof drink if there ever was one. And don’t know about you, but matcha and white chocolate are two definite favorites!

And guess what peeps? We’re talking nil net carbs a mug (as in zero!).

Matcha 🍵

Matcha is simply green tea on steroids, think ten times as many antioxidants as your regular cup of loose leaf green tea. And looking at its antioxidant components, catechins make up the most part. Which is super neat, as they’re regarded as the most potent and beneficial of the lot.

And digging a little deeper, green tea is particularly rich in EGCg, a catechin highly regarded for its cancer-fighting properties. And matcha green tea contains 100 times more EGCg than other teas out there.

And if coffee is giving you the jitters, matcha really is a great option (without having to give up caffeine, that is). You see, green tea is rich in the amino acid L-Theanine, which stimulates the production of alpha waves by our brains to induce relaxation and reduce stress. All without the fogginess or drowsiness caused by downers.

Plus, L-Theanine is also a known aid for the production of dopamine and serotonin, two known mood-enhancers (amongst other things). Tripe win!

Oh, and let’s not forget that matcha is also incredibly nutrient dense. Think potassium, iron, calcium and vitamins A and C. Plus, it’s also very low carb (think less than 1g carb a serving + nearly equal amounts of fiber = nil).

Just note that qualities do vary vastly, so be sure to look into a good one such as Jade Leaf’s. Arguably, you really do want to go organic here as teas are notably ridden with pesticides.

The ‘White Chocolate’ 🍫

White chocolate is simply cocoa butter, sugar and a milk. And given that it’s the highly-regarded cocoa butter that gives it its distinct chocolate flavor, adding it as your fat in this bulletproof matcha latte will add a wonderful chocolate hint to your morning drink.

But aside from giving it killer taste, cocoa butter is rich in healthy fats and anti-inflammatory components. Perhaps most famous for being rich in polyphenols, which studies have shown to help skin conditions (think aging and dermatitis), both internally and externally. So feel free to slather your cocoa butter on your skin too.

The Milk 🥛

Macadamia milk is a match made in heaven with matcha. You can either make it at home by blending a handful of macadamia nuts with water in your bullet, or purchase an unsweetened version (which is effectively nil net carbs a serving).

Alternatively, coconut milk also works quite well taste-wise. And if all else fails you can always go for unsweetened almond milk, just note that it’s not our top choice when it comes to matcha.

The Sweetener 🍯

Pick your poison.

But we do like Swerve or xylitol best here. No funky aftertaste, at all. But Pyure and SweetLeaf’s stevia vanilla drops work surprisingly well here too.

And if using xylitol, make sure to be careful if you have a pup around the house, as it’s highly toxic to the little guys! 🐕

    • Paola says:

Hi Sandee! Happy you liked it! Yes, this works great hot! I drink it in place of coffee every morning (I still get a caffeine kick, but without any jitters!). Xo!

Hi Diana! HPNY to you as well!! Yes you can add chia seeds as well (I do it a bunch when I want something more filling). Just keep in mind that they don’t blend AS well as in the hot chocolate (which is why I didn’t recommend it in the post outright). xo!!
